Joint Operation Room of Palestinian Resistance Factions warns against Israeli atrocities

PRESS RELEASE
Joint Operation Room of Palestinian Resistance Factions

joint-op-room-400-x-289

The Israeli occupation perpetrated an atrocious crime to add to its criminal record against the Palestinian people, when Israeli snipers targeted peaceful protesters at the Great Return March last Friday, December 21, 2018.

The deliberate Israeli shooting of civilians resulted in killing four Palestinian civilians and the injuring of dozens of Palestinian protesters.

After thorough investigations, the Palestinian resistance has found out that the Palestinian victims were targeted 300-600 meters away from the separation fence, proving the Israeli snipers’ premeditated murder of Palestinians posing no threat to the Israeli forces deployed along the fence.

In fact, what happened last Friday is an atrocious act reflecting the occupation’s criminal mentality as they deliberately kill the peaceful protesters in cold blood.

In light of this crime, the Joint Operation Room of Palestinian Resistance Factions states the following:

FIRST: The criminal acts of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people have crossed all the red lines. Hence, the Palestinian resistance will never stand still before the Israeli atrocities.

SECOND: When it comes to the blood, pain, and dignity, no humanitarian assistance will dissuade the Palestinian resistance from fulfilling their national duty. The resistance will defend the Palestinian people against any Israeli aggression.

THIRD: We declare that next Friday will be a real test for the occupation and its bad intentions. If the occupation continues using excessive and disproportionate violence against the protesters, the Palestinian resistance will respond to the atrocious Israeli acts.

Hamas condemns Israeli arbitrary killing of children, journalists at Great Return March

PRESS RELEASE
HAMAS

statments_img-400-x-70

On the Israeli arbitrary killing of children and journalists at the Great Return March, the Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum stressed the following:

The deliberate Israeli targeting and killing of Palestinian protesters at the Great Return March is a new crime added to the Israeli occupation’s criminal record. Now, the Israeli occupation sheds the blood of the innocent Palestinians without any sense of guilt. It grossly ignores the demands of the Palestinian people for freedom and for lifting the crippling blockade, while turning a blind eye to human rights and the international community.

The incitement to murder by the Israeli leaders has led to the use of lethal force by Israeli forces to disperse the peaceful Palestinian protesters. Indeed, the calculated and systematic excessive use of force against the protesters is a ‘political decision’ taken by the top Israeli leaders.

The repeated crimes and deliberate targeting of children, women, medical staff and journalists by the Israeli forces deployed along the Gaza separation fence reflect the predetermination of the Israeli occupation to kill Palestinian civilians. They also highlight the Israeli intention to breach the ceasefire understandings.

Therefore, Hamas calls on all mediators and the international community to intervene immediately in order to compel the occupation to stop its atrocious acts against the Palestinian people. They must pressure the Israeli occupation to adhere to the ceasefire understandings, and lift the Gaza siege immediately.

Joint Hamas, Islamic Jihad press release on current developments

PRESS RELEASE
HAMAS and Islamic Jihad

statments_img-400-x-70

Following a lengthy meeting between Hamas and Islamic Jihad held yesterday in Gaza to discuss the Palestinian situation and relevant developments, the two movements state the following:

First: The two parties confirm that they maintain a rock-solid relationship and they will continue their coordination and cooperation at the political and military levels.

Second: Hamas and Jihad will protect the option of resistance and activate the Joint Operation Room of the Palestinian Resistance Factions.

Third: We stress that the Great Return March will continue until meeting demands of the Palestinian Higher Committee for the march. Moreover, the peaceful protests will remain popular and non-violent.

Fourth: Hamas and Jihad hail the endeavours of Egypt, Qatar, and the UN to alleviate the plight of the Gaza Strip and remove the Israeli blockade. The two parties welcome all these efforts and are working together, along with the other factions, to help these efforts succeed.

Fifth: The two parties hail the high level of understanding and cooperation among the Palestinian factions that have been enhanced through the Great Return March. Hamas and Jihad will utilize this ‘atmosphere of unity’ to achieve gains and serve the interests of the Palestinian people.

Sixth: The two parties reaffirm the necessity to restore Palestinian unity and heal the Palestinian rift, based on a unified stance to fight off all Palestinian threats. Achieving this goal requires the implementation of the already-signed agreements, especially Cairo 2011, and forming a Palestinian unity government that will prepare for Palestinian general elections and for holding a consensual National Council, according to the recommendations of Beirut Conference.

Seventh: We call for immediate lifting of all punitive measure imposed by the Palestinian Authority on the beleaguered Gaza Strip, and for the PA not to implement any further measures that will worsen the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, as such a move is enough to widen the Palestinian split and fragment the social fabric in Palestine.

Eighth: Hamas and Jihad warn against plunging into normalization with the Israeli occupation resulting in horrific outcomes for the Palestinian cause. Therefore, all parties should stop all forms of normalization and reactivate an official and popular boycott.

Ninth: We urge all free people of the world to take action to fight off all attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause, above all the so-called “Deal of the Century.”

Tenth: Hamas and Jihad hail all efforts, popular and official, aimed to foil Israeli schemes in Palestine, especially in Khan al-Ahmar.

statments_img-400-x-70

On the 24th Friday of the Great March of Return, the Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum stated the following:

The mass participation in this week’s Great March of Return proves that the Palestinian people have selected the Palestinian resistance which defends them against the ongoing Israeli aggression to represent them over the Palestinian Authority which is imposing sanctions on Gaza while continuing its security collaboration with the Israeli Occupation.

Occupied Palestinian Territory: Bleakest picture yet, says UN expert after regional visit

PRESS RELEASE
UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territory

lynk-400-x-224

GENEVA (29 June 2018) – A UN expert has expressed alarm about the deterioration of human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, saying reports received during his visit to the region this week painted the most dispiriting picture yet of the situation on the ground.

“After years of creeping Israeli de facto annexation of the large swathes of the West Bank through settlement expansion, the creation of closed military zones and other measures, Israel appears to be getting closer to enacting legislation that will formally annex parts of the West Bank,” said the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, Michael Lynk. “This would amount to a profound violation of international law, and the impact of ongoing settlement expansion on human rights must not be ignored.”

Lynk travelled to Amman, Jordan this week to meet with civil society, government officials and UN representatives to collect information for his next report, to be presented to the 73rd session of the General Assembly in October 2018. Israel, the occupying power, has continued to prohibit him from travelling to the OPT.

“This is my third mission to the region since I assumed the mandate in May 2016, and the reports I received this week have painted the bleakest picture yet of the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory,” he said. Read more »

Al-Sisi’s Band Aid: Egypt extends Rafah Crossing opening through Thursday.

SOURCE: alnafiza.net

Informed sources said that the Egyptian authorities decided to open the Rafah crossing in the southern Gaza Strip permanently due to the large number of wounded and injured who are scheduled to leave for Egypt to receive treatment, and also within the Egyptian facilities to come to the sector.

The sources confirmed that the crossing from the moment will remain permanently open without closing it completely, pointing out that the Egyptian leadership gave instructions to the competent authorities to keep the Rafah crossing open continuously.

She pointed out that the Egyptian authorities have given instructions to all concerned authorities to start receiving the wounded of the march of return and the millions of people who broke the siege, whose cases require treatment in Egyptian hospitals.

The Egyptian authorities decided to open the Rafah crossing for four days from Saturday to Tuesday evening, but announced the extension of the crossing until Thursday evening.

It is noteworthy that the Rafah crossing is considered the lifeline of the citizens of Gaza, since it connects the sector in Egypt, where the closure of the latter almost completely, since July 2013, and open it at intervals: for the travel of humanitarian cases, students and dependents only.

Editorial: Picking Up The Pieces After The Gaza Fence Massacre

By Alastair Thompson
(Co-founder and former editor – Scoop.co.nz)

This video puts the Palestinian Border Protests in full context. And it provides those who haven’t been following recent history closely the background needed to understand why the Gaza Fence Massacre yesterday is so important historically.

Today the Gaza border has been quiet after orders were given to withdraw from the border. Gaza has also been concentrating on burying its dead and treating the thousands of wounded.

The people of Gaza have experienced yet another great trauma, on top of a mountain of traumas experienced in their open air prison – and live fire military technology proving ground. And they have done so with great dignity. The fact that this protest did not turn into yet another missile barrage shows that there is a new understanding in the Gaza Strip – among its leaders i.e. Hamas – that a military confrontation with Israel will never deliver them justice and freedom.

Israel did exactly what they said they would do. Impose significant casualties on the protesters with the clear intention of provoking a military response which they would then be able to use in their communications with the rest of the world – condemning the millions of Gazans as terrorists, wild animals who cannot be trusted and who have no other reflex other than to attack.

This kind of restraint is extraordinary – and it is a turning point for Gaza – even if it takes some time for it to become a turning point in the wider jihad for freedom and justice.

But to pick themselves up from this latest horror, whilst facing further bombing, further provocation, with no means to escape, limited water and electricity, living in ruins and mourning their loved ones will be very hard.

My hope is that the people of Gaza will know that they have in this moment of sacrifice made themselves 100s of millions of friends an sympathisers around the world. And that Israel failed in its diabolical and evil attempt to provoke them into lashing back.

The #GreatReturnMarch may feel like a failure or an exercise in futility on the ground for so many brave souls. But it is not. It is a wonderful victory of peace over violence, and it provides a foundation for a new era in Palestinian/Israeli peace negotiations where the Israeli’s no longer hold all the cards.
