The head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh attended the funeral of seven Palestinians killed late Sunday during an Israeli clandestine operation in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis.

Haniyeh extended his condolences to the families and relatives of the martyrs.

Thousands more Palestinians also mourned their deaths.

The seven were killed when members of the Israeli special forces infiltrated into Gaza late Sunday in a civilian car and engaged in an exchange of fire with the Palestinian resistance, who tried to thwart the attack.

During the exchange of fire Israeli aircraft fired more than 40 missiles onto the area where the incident took place, killing at least another four persons, witnesses said.
