Hamas on Abbas’ speech to UNGA

PRESS STATEMENT
HAMAS

statments_img-400-x-70

Hamas considers the speech of Mahmoud Abbas to the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday evening to have been pointless repetition, thus highlighting the failures of his policies and his inability to predict others’ behavior despite warnings from the Palestinian factions and others.

In his speech, Abbas merely repeated his demands to the international community, complained about the negligence of the U.S. administration and its bias, and expressed his upset over the Israeli Occupation refusal to fulfill its due commitments made through PA-Israeli Occupation agreements, which has led to catastrophic consequences for the Palestinian cause.

Indeed, the Abbas speech is an explicit announcement of both the failure of his policies, and a straightforward confession that the path of ‘negotiations’ will never bring about just solutions or any gains for the Palestinian people.

Regarding the borders of the Israeli Occupation, Abbas should have posed that question before entering into the Oslo Accords and recognizing the Israeli Occupation.

Abbas completely ignored the Great March of Return in his speech, and the great sacrifice the Palestinian people make to resist the occupation. He also excluded the Gaza Strip and its people when uttering his words before the General Assembly.

Accordingly, Abbas deepens the Palestinian split, paves the way for the Israeli Occupation to perpetrate more crimes and killings, and facilitates the implementation of the ‘Deal of the Century.’

In confirming that he is committed to continued negotiations with the Israeli Occupation despite hundreds of unsuccessful rounds and conferences, Mahmoud Abbas is just duplicating failure while the occupation commits land-grabs to expand its settlements and judaizes the Islamic holy sites, and the Palestinian right of return is annihilated through the dismantling of UNRWA.

As all of the above violations continue unabated, Mahmoud Abbas maintains security collaboration with the Israeli occupation, and restricts both the Palestinian resistance and the Palestinian people from expressing their opposition to the Israeli crimes – even through popular and peaceful means.

Calling the Palestinian resistance ‘terrorist militias’ before the UNGA is a stab in the back of the Palestinian people and their long history, steadfast resistance, and numerous martyrs.

Rubbing salt in the wound, Abbas then employed this platform to declare his intention to isolate the Gaza Strip and to threaten its people with new punitive measures, endangering both Palestinian reconciliation on the one hand, and contradicting the valuable efforts exerted by Egypt to reach national unity on the other. Abbas should have supported all these endeavors, and announced a lifting of the PA sanctions imposed on the Gaza Strip. We therefore hold Abbas responsible for any further ramifications resulting from new punitive measures against the Gaza Strip and its people.

Given all of the aforementioned facts and challenges, Hamas believes that it is necessary for Abbas to repudiate the path of Oslo, a path that has proven to have failed and which has inflicted overwhelming repercussions on the Palestinian people.

Abbas should reconsider the unilateralist policy he has adopted.

Abbas needs to listen to the people of Palestine and to the Palestinian factions, and take heed of their desire for reconciliation and for the implementation of agreements in this regard, above all the Cairo Agreement of 2011.

Abbas must reunite the Palestinian people, and reorganise the internal political situation on the basis of partnership and consensus for a national program to restore our rights and maintain the Palestinian constants.

Finally, Abbas must immediately halt security collaboration and all forms of cooperation with the Israeli Occupation.

Zionist storming of Al-Aqsa crosses all red lines

HAMAS

Hamas leader Muhammad Abu-Teir said in a Press Release Tuesday that the Israeli occupation is ‘crossing all red lines’ in its attempts to impose a new reality on the ground in Jerusalem by exploiting current conditions.

Abu-Teir said that the increasing number of extremist Zionists breaking into Al-Aqsa Mosque is indicative of how alarming the situation has become, and called on the Palestinian people to fight off the occupation’s attempts to take over the holy site.

“These acts will not change history, nor negate the fact that Al-Aqsa is a holy site for Muslims,” Abu-Teir added.

Abu Teir stressed that all such endeavors to completely judaize the holy site are doomed to failure.

“They may trigger an uprising against the Israeli occupation,” he concluded.

History of Al Aqsa

– Al Aqsa is the third-holiest site in Islam – it was the first Qibla (direction for praying) for Muslims, before changing to Mecca in 624.

– While Al-Aqsa is often thought of as a single building, the site actually consists of several mosques, including the Buraq and Marwani Mosques. The wider compound in which Al-Aqsa is located is referred to as Al-Haram Ash-Sharif (The Noble Sanctuary).

– The legendary golden Dome of the Rock is believed to be the first dome ever used in Islamic architecture.

– Al Aqsa is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage site list, thus is considered of enormous importance to both Islamic and world history and culture.

Hamas delegation to visit Cairo for ceasefire talks

HAMAS

hamas-deleg-400-x-205

A Hamas delegation will soon head to Cairo to take part in talks on several issues concerning Palestine, Hamas leader Sami Abu Zuhri said in a press release today.

Abu Zuhri confirmed that Hamas has ‘other options’ if the efforts exerted to reach a ceasefire with the Israeli Occupation fail.

Hamas will be discussing the ceasefire from a position of strength, Abu Zuhri stressed.

The Hamas leader concluded that the Palestinian people have sent a clear message to the Israeli Occupation that stalling for time to deplete the people of Gaza’s will is a lost cause.

The Great March of Return has continued unabated on Gaza’s ‘borders’ for six months, despite the Israeli killing of over 180 peaceful protesters, and the maiming and injuring of many thousands more.

Is PA security collaboration treason?

HAMAS

pa-security-400-x-205

Palestinian factions have condemned Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ remarks boasting about security collaboration with the Israeli Occupation and his relation with the chief of the Israeli Intelligence, Service Nadav Argaman. They have also denounced Abbas’ confessions that he maintained ‘regular meetings’ with Argaman, who has brutally tortured many Palestinians.

But criticism and condemnation alone will not heal the wounds inflicted on the Palestinian cause, nor will they end the tragedy of people who have been suffering from it, especially those who also suffer oppression at the hands of the Israeli Occupation forces.

The Israeli intelligence’s core work is security information that is employed against the Palestinians in favour of the Zionists occupying all of Palestine, including the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The Israeli intelligence strips the Palestinian people of their dignity.

Its latest ‘achievement’ is perpetrating hundreds of violations against Palestinian civilians in the West Bank, including shooting 114 Palestinians, the detention of 365 civilians, the demolition of 35 houses, 795 break-ins, and the storming into Al-Aqsa Mosque. And that is just the crimes committed in August in the West Bank – Gaza has its own list of criminal oppression.

The aforementioned atrocities are the poisoned fruit of the security collaboration between the Israeli intelligence and the PA security forces, fruits the Israeli Occupation has reaped at the expense of the Palestinian cause. Poisoned fruits sanctified by Abbas even if they liquidate the Palestinian cause before the Palestinian factions’ eyes, and strip Palestinians of their last vestiges of dignity.

TREASON

Condemnation, opposition, and criticism of Abbas’ policies will not deter him from undermining the Palestinian national consensus. Action is needed – demonstrations, sit-ins, and real opposition up to the level of civil disobedience if necessary – to send a clear message that security collaboration with the Israeli Occupation is a gross treason, as stated in the National Consensus Document that was signed by all Palestinian factions in Cairo in 2011:

“Providing the enemy with information that threatens Palestine and its civilians is considered as a high treason that deserves punishment under the law.” (Page 7, Para 3)

This begs two questions:
1) Does Abbas exchange security information with the chief of the Israeli intelligence during their meetings, that negatively affects Palestinians?
2) What are the penalties for such behaviour?

If the answer to the first question is yes – and how could it be other – then treason is the inescapable conclusion.

The answer to the second is equally clear:

“He, who collaborates with the enemy, provides it with information, or exposes any act of Palestinian resistance to danger shall be sentenced to death,” says Article 140 of the Revolutionary Judiciary Law issued by the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) in 1979, from which the National Consensus Document statement on homeland security was derived.

ACTION NEEDED

We therefore call on all segments of the Palestinian people to file high treason charges against Mahmoud Abbas pursuant to the Revolutionary Judiciary Law that was approved by all the PLO factions, and according to the 2011 National Consensus Document, which was signed by all the Palestinian factions – including Fatah.

Hamas: Five strategies to preserve Palestinian cause as ‘deal of century’ looms

HAMAS

haniyeh-400-x-205

Top Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said that national efforts exerted to save the Palestinian cause from being liquidated must be laid on five strategic foundations:

First: Continuous protection of resistance, as we are living in a world that respects only the strong.

Second: We have to build national Palestinian unity based on respecting partnership, adhering to the Palestinian agreements, and rebuilding the Palestinian homeland.

Third: We have to be open to elements of the Ummah, all the parties, world countries, and blocs. We represent a cause, which needs our support.

Forth: We have to work on ending the siege imposed on Gaza. No one can undermine Gaza’s patriotism and resistance.

Fifth: Hamas was, and is still, insisting to go to Cairo along with all the Palestinian factions on the basis of partnership in taking national decisions. Read more »

Decoding the Pipes/Trump/Kushner ‘Deal of the Century”

Opinion
Richard Falk

peace-table-400-x-262

You didn’t have to be a ‘never Trump’ loyalist to have qualms about proposing to bring peace to Palestinians and Jews by creating conditions that would produce ‘The Deal of the Century.’ And let’s be fair, if the game of nations is now played according to the rules of Madison Avenue, the phrase was a winner despite being a loser if evaluated from a problem-solving perspective. Even in the present degraded political atmosphere, to bet on an advertising slogan as a substitute for healing ideas may be a good formula for ensuring a large audience for a reality TV episode, but it is a cruel evasion when it comes to addressing the daily ordeal of the Palestinian people consigned to the victimization associated with living under the Israeli apartheid state. Hamas to break Gaza siege regardless of Abbas’ opposition

HAMAS

bardawil-400-x-265

Member of Hamas Political Bureau Salah Al-Bardawil stated that his movement would continue exerting efforts to pressure the Israeli Occupation to lift the siege imposed on Gaza Strip despite attempts of some sides to hinder this move.

In an interview with Al-Aqsa TV Channel, Al-Bardawil added that the President of the Palestinian Authority (PA), Mahmoud Abbas foiled Egypt’s efforts to break the Israeli-imposed siege on the Gaza Strip, as part of PA’s bid to pave the way for the ‘deal of the century’ which aims at liquidating the Palestinian cause.

Regarding Abbas’ claims that the ceasefire with the Israeli Occupation is part of the ‘deal of the century’, Al-Bardawil stressed that his movement is exerting efforts to hammer out a truce with the Israeli Occupation in parallel with achieving the national reconciliation.

Al-Bardawil criticized the PA for maintaining its sanctions on the Gaza Strip, reiterating that the movement is prepared to run for elections at all levels. Read more »

That Slap In The Face

Shukri Abu-Bakr*

This is for you, Ahed

ahed-400-x-267

Like a Free Palestine Spirit, your home is hospitable and warm, but has no fireplace for a cold killer.

Your fingernails sun-kissed, your palms soft as a whisper; but you did it, girl; you slapped a lethal weapon right in the face.

Your lips breathless over a million unheard cries… So rouse the world. Make it listen. Make it rise. Stand face-to-face and slap it right in the face.

Your green eyes, what do they see or so desire; but a white dawn to descend upon a nation’s dream set on fire.

So, girl, strip the arsonist of his undue grace…and yes, princess, with your bare hands slap him right in the face.

You’re noble from head to toe, daughter of the mountains, so bring your oppressor down on his armored knees.. and slap him hard. Slap him right in the face.

Slap him every time his psycho boots step into your peace of mind.

Slap him every time his tanks roll over your tender foot-marks. Slap him every time his smoke out-smells the wild sage in your yard. And slap him, daughter of the land…

Slap him for every time he stole dirt from your great grandfather’s grave. Slap him for every time he left an olive tree butchered in your neighbor’s grove. Slap him for every time he demanded respect for his loaded gun.

Slap him for your cousin… for all the young bones punctuated with bullets. And your highness, with your wrists besieged in cuffs as cruel as my own, slap him; not once, not twice, but thrice, for every time he thought that at the sight of coming invaders, Red-headed Palestine would simply run away.

On the 24th Friday of the Great March of Return, the Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum stated the following:

The mass participation in this week’s Great March of Return proves that the Palestinian people have selected the Palestinian resistance which defends them against the ongoing Israeli aggression to represent them over the Palestinian Authority which is imposing sanctions on Gaza while continuing its security collaboration with the Israeli Occupation.

Israel puts Gaza on a diet

Visualizing Palestine

gaza-diet1

Since the start of its blockade on Gaza, Israel has been controlling Gazans’ calorie intake, making food essentials such as meat, dairy, fruits and vegetables a luxury.

2017 OCHA estimates found that 40%* of Gazan households suffered from food insecurity, and 80%* of people were reliant on foreign aid for survival.

With the Trump administration’s $200 million* aid cuts to Palestine and Israel’s sanctions on imports and exports, families in Gaza are increasingly at risk of food insecurity.

Our visuals highlight how Israel’s Red Lines Policy, implemented from 2007-2010, collectively punished Gazans by limiting their access to food quantities needed for survival.

Hamas: We don’t seek war but we are prepared to defend our people

HAMAS

sinwar-400-x-205

“We don’t seek war but we are well prepared to defend our people if the Israeli occupation decided to attack them,” Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip, Yahyia al-Sinwar, said.

During a press conference with Gaza youth held on Tuesday in Gaza city, al-Sinwar reiterated his Movement’s preparation for any Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip if forced into one.

“During this period we are willing to stabilize the 2014 cease-fire with the Israeli Occupation in return for ending the 12-year-long siege imposed on our people in the coastal encalve,” he stressed.

In an effort to end the crippling siege, Palestinians in Gaza organized the Great March of Return last March where they headed towards the separation fence and demanded for the siege to be lifted and to return to their original homeland. However, they were met with brutal force from Israeli soldiers who killed more than 180 peaceful civilians and wounded thousands of others.

“The Great March of Return brought the Israeli Occupation to the conviction that an inevitable explosion in the Gaza Strip will happen and will affect the Occupation due to this choking siege,” al-Sinwar continued. Read more »
