Haniyeh informs several leaders on reconciliation agreement

Head of Hamas’s Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, called Prince Tamim Bin Hamas Al-Thani of Qatar Friday evening and informed him about the outcome of reconciliation talks with Fatah.

During the call, Haniyeh praised the efforts exerted by Qatar over the past years that aimed to achieve a national reconciliation.

He stressed the keenness of the Hamas movement to implement and abide by what was agreed upon, pointing out that steps have already been taken to move on to the next phase.

For his part, Prince Tamim bin Hamad stressed Qatar’s steadfast stance in supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.

The Emir welcomed the reconciliation agreement, which was sponsored by Egypt in the context of its pivotal role in the Palestinian cause and people.

He stressed that Qatar will continue to stand by the Palestinian people and provide relief to their suffering, especially in the humanitarian aspect.

The Emir expressed his hope that the reconciliation process would continue successfully until it reaches its desired goal.

Haniyeh had also earlier contacted Qatari Foreign Minister, Mohammed Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani, on the signing of the reconciliation agreement.

The head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) received a telephone call on Friday evening from Turkish Foreign Minister Mouloud Gawishoglu.

Hamas’s recently appointed leader also called Russia’s deputy foreign minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, and updated him on the reconciliation agreement.

Haniyeh also praised Russian efforts to achieve the reconciliation, and Bogdanov, on his part, reiterated Russia’s keenness in seeing a unified Palestinian government and savouring its relations with all Palestinian factions.

In the same context, Turkey’s Foreign Minister, Mouloud Jawish Oglu, telephoned Haniyeh and congratulated both Hamas and Fatah on signing the historic reconciliation agreement.
