Bad news, good news, and actions

There is bad news, good news, and actions

Good news: The Palestinian Ministry of Culture decided to recognize our friend Rim Al-Banna. Coming a few days after Women Workers Day, this was a very nice gesture. In other good news, the Christ at the Checkpoint conference in Bethlehem concluded successfully. More and more Christians are recognizing Israel for what it really is: a racist apartheid regime that is as anti-Christian as it is anti-Muslim (and even anti-Jewish).

The G4S security company will close their offices in Tel Aviv and will stop supporting Israeli torture of Palestinian prisoners including children. This is a direct response to the BDS movement.

And Bernie Sanders wins Michigan primary against AIPAC stooge Hilary Clinton (yes, the large American Arab population, Christians and Muslims voted for a Jewish guy 🙂

In other good news, a major lawsuit was filed in the US targeting the individuals and entities funding violent settlement activities in occupied Palestine (funders of racist colonial settlement activities).

Yesterday my students and I did a field trip to an area near their Birzeit University. Next week I start to teach course in peacemaking and conflict resolution at Bethlehem Bible college and after that I teach anthropology to student in Tourism at Bethlehem University. Education remains a key to our liberation.

Hanan Al-Hroub, Palestinian teacher, from the refugee camp of Dheisheh here in Bethlehem won the most prestigious global teacher award (comes with USD $1 million). From 1800 exceptional teachers from nearly 150 countries this is not only a great honor for Hanan but a great honor for Palestine. Watch her inspiring speech.

I will be a speaker at those two venues:
1) Theatre Festival & Forum on Cultural Resistance at Jenin Refugee Camp, April 4-9, 2016

2) 4th international conference on Energy and Environmental Protection in Sustainable Development

Bad news: Israel decided to shell Gaza yet again killing two children, and also executed ten young Palestinians in one week.

Israeli apartheid forces demolished many homes and decided to also expel families of martyrs from occupied Jerusalem. These same forces also arrested over 150 Palestinians for their posts on facebook and is holding thousands of political prisoners. They are even training Israeli children in weapon usage (training future terrorists).

And dictatorial Arab regimes propped up by the United States shamelessly declared Hizbollah a terrorist organization. However, the backlash on the Arab street was strong as Hizbollah is one of the few credible Arab organizations resisting oppression while these same Arab regimes (together with Turkey) were funding and supporting Islamist terror groups like ISIS/Daesh and Nusra Front and more. They are also allying themselves with the Jewish State (which invaded several Arab countries) against the Islamic State of Iran (which never invaded an Arab country in the past several hundred years). We can also add that “Saudi Arabia” (cleptocracy supported by the US) impoverished its own people and sent its army to attack fellow Arab citizens in Bahrain and Yemen (and by proxy attacked Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and now spreading to Jordan).

Actions: Now, the good news above are a result of action by activists to counter the bad news produced by greedy destructive actions by deluded people who think they can get happiness by accumulating wealth and destroying other people’s
lives.

Actions can be many and every day I see great actions around me: positive energy is everywhere and it is the only antidote to negative energy. Here are some suggestions of actions.
