Hamas Press Statement On Formation of a New Palestinian Government

Hamas Islamic Resistance Movement

In light of claims that PLO executive committee has commissioned Azzam al-Ahmad to make consultations on forming a new government that would replace the national consensus government to be dismissed, Hamas stresses the following:

1. The PLO executive committee is not pertinent to the government’s formation. Consequently, it is required that the provisional leading frame be called to follow up all files of reconciliation.

2. Hamas calls upon the Palestinian factions that signed the Cairo agreement to initiate a comprehensive dialogue in order to fully implement reconciliation agreements and its different files, mainly the formation of a national unity government.

3. In accordance with what has been agreed upon in the reconciliation agreement, the new government to be formed must be a caretaker government, and not committed to a political program.

4. Before it tends to its tasks, the new government must obtain the vote of confidence from the Palestinian Legislative Council “PLC”.

5. The new government must settle the file of Gaza staff immediately with no preconditions.

Israel whitewashes beach bloodbath that killed four kids

bakr (400 x 279)

The Israeli army late Thursday announced it is closing its probe into its killing of four children from the Bakr family playing football on a Gaza beach, saying the “tragic” attack had not violated international law.

Many foreign journalists were near the beach at the time of the attack, and witnessed the atrocity.

The four cousins, nine year old Mohamed Ramez Bakr, Ahed Atef Bakr and Zakaria Ahed Bakr, 10, and Ismail Mohamed Bakr, 11, were playing on the beach in Gaza City on July 16, 2014 when they were hit in two separate strikes. Read more »

Israel doesn’t abuse children, it just murders them

By Khalid Amayreh

kid (400 x 390)

Throughout its unglamorous history, the UN issued many scandalous reports and adopted many scandalous resolutions reflecting lack of justice and absence of moral honesty.

This ever-existing symptom also reflected western hegemony over the international organization.

However, none of these reports and resolutions seems more scandalous than this week’s report which kept Israel off the List of Shame, which includes states and entities that abuse children.

This particular report is manifestly scandalous precisely because Israel is probably one of the most obscene abusers of children under the sun. Read more »

Hemaya: UN spurns Palestinian children

Shifa Hospital 19 July 2014

Ban Ki-moon’s decision not to include Israel on the list of violators of children’s rights twists the knife in the heart of every Palestinian parent, making it very clear that in the eyes of the United Nations, Palestinian children’s lives don’t count.

When a military with the most sophisticated and accurate weaponry on the planet can kill more than 500 children in cold blood with complete impunity, as Israel’s absence from the list shows, it reveals more than just the complete disregard for Palestinian lives that has become so commonplace in the halls of power. It also makes it abundantly clear that the UN, the single most important international organisation charged with protecting the lives of the most vulnerable, is failing spectacularly. Read more »
