Anniversary of siege-busting convoy marked

Labour weekend marked the anniversary of the first Kiwi contingent to arrive in Gaza as part of the historic Viva Palestina international aid convoy. The land convoy, made up of 400 people from 33 nations and 250 vehicles, broke through the Israeli siege on Gaza and delivered $NZ7 million worth of urgently needed medical aid.

Kia Ora Gaza will send a second team of volunteers on the next international aid convoy in December this year.

“This convoy will link up with the democracy uprising in Egypt, intent on opening up the border and ending the illegal Israeli siege permanently,” said Kia Ora Gaza organiser, Roger Fowler.
